Gluten Free: Budapest

Budapest, I found relatively easy regarding eating gluten free as I had done some of my own research before going. They have quite a few dedicated gluten free restaurants and bakeries! I enjoy visiting fully gf places as it puts my mind at ease regarding cross contamination!

My favourite bakery I visited was Cöli Bisztró which is a fully gf bakery with a small gluten free shop. They had a good variety of gf products including a lot of schaer products. On my first visit I tried a cheese and tomato swirl which tasted like a pizza. I then went back a second time on my last day and bought a chocolate swirl to take to the airport the following day as I feel it’s always important to be prepared at airports as often, they don’t have many/any options

Below is a link to what the bakery looks like inside!

Another bakery I visited was tibidabo. I enjoyed being able to pick out my own pastries and not be worried about CC! You are then charged by the weight of the pastries. My boyfriend and I shared a few different pastries

I wanted to try some traditional Hungarian food whilst I was there, so we went to Retró langos. Lángos is a fried dough which you add different toppings to. This restaurant is not fully gf however they do have a separate fryer and prep area! We couldn't even tell the difference between what one was gluten free!

restaurant we visited for dinner was Kata. It was a lactose & Gluten free restaurant. I really enjoyed the food however the service could've been better, which was a bit of a let down. I had the mash with breaded chicken and pickled cucumber which was lovely!

Overall, I loved Budapest & would definitely visit again!
